How Cancer Treatment Affects a Dog’s Nutrition

Cancer is a scary, heartbreaking diagnosis, and the idea of cancer treatment can be overwhelming.

You can help your dog get through the side effects of cancer treatment and live a better quality of life by creating an advanced, nutritive special dog cancer diet to meet their needs.

The most important thing to ensure that your dog’s nutrition is the best is to make sure your dog eats. It’s quite common for dogs to lose their appetite or sense of smell and no longer be interested in food. So, their mast cell tumor dog diet may have to change from time to time to get them interested.

When it comes to foods that are good for dogs with cancer, we believe in a low carb low sugar diet:

  • Chicken

  • Turkey

  • Pork

  • Fish

  • Eggs

  • Beef

  • Cumin

  • Coriander

  • Turmeric

  • Ginger

  • Broccoli

  • Cabbage

Avoid These Foods When Creating Your Dog’s Cancer Diet

A major food to avoid is kibble. Kibble is dehydrating and may contain ingredients that could make your dog sicker, like grains—which have carbohydrates that feed cancer cells

Other food to avoid:

  • Artificial sweeteners
  • Bacon
  • Fruit
  • Grains and foods high in carbohydrates
  • Processed foods

While it is recommended that these substances are avoided when looking for the best diets for dogs at all times, it is especially important for dogs with cancer.
